Design Thinking Scholarship 

American Graphics Institute offers multiple scholarships to encourage the use of design and creative thinking across various disciplines and fields. Several scholarships are available each year for students enrolled in any accredited post-secondary degree-granting program in the United States, including undergraduate and post-graduate programs. There are also separate scholarships available for students attending American Graphics Institute programs as well.

Scholarships are awarded twice annually, in January and again in August of each year.

The American Graphic Institute Design Thinking scholarship is offered to both part-time and full-time students enrolled in degree programs at any accredited college or university in the United States. This $1,000 scholarship is awarded twice annually, in January and August of each year. The goal of the scholarship is to encourage design thinking across various disciplines. Deadlines for scholarship submissions are July 31 and December 31. The scholarships are offered annually and on a rolling basis. Submissions are considered for the next available scholarship.

The Top Nutrition Coaching First-Gen Futures Scholarship is a quarterly recurring scholarship open to all first-generation students whose parents did not receive a four-year bachelor’s degree.

Gates Millennium Scholars Program

The Gates Millennium Scholars (GMS) Program, funded by a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, was established in 1999 to provide outstanding African American, American Indian/Alaska Native*, Asian Pacific Islander American**, and Hispanic American students with an opportunity to complete an undergraduate college education in any discipline area of interest. Continuing Gates Millennium Scholars may request funding for a graduate degree program in one of the following discipline areas: computer science, education, engineering, library science, mathematics, public health or science.

 

HeySunday Scholarship for Moms in College

At HeySunday, we are committed to empowering moms who are pursuing higher education. We believe that mothers returning to or continuing their education are driving positive change—not just for themselves, but for their families as well. 

This scholarship is designed to recognize and support moms who are enrolled in college, regardless of their field of study. Whether you’re returning to school after a pause or continuing your education while raising children, we want to hear about your journey and the resilience you’ve shown along the way.  Eligible applicants are mothers currently attending a U.S. college or university.

Hope for Healing Scholarship *added Sept 2025*

The Hope for Healing Scholarship is a continuously running annual scholarship with new recipients announced every March. We are now accepting applicants for our fifth year. This annual $5,000 award goes to (1) one graduate and (1) one undergraduate student in the fields of mental and behavioral health, psychology, nursing, and/or addiction medicine.

Innovation in Education Scholarship

LA Tutors awards students who showcase their creativity and make positive impacts with a $500 Innovation in Education scholarship. On an ongoing monthly basis, this scholarship is open to all currently enrolled high school, college, and graduate  students who showcase their creativity while helping those around them (whether that be in a creative fundraiser, an inventive new app, series of blog posts on a particular theme, or another idea). The application deadline is 11:59 pm PST on the 20th of each month.

Jobtest.org Diverse Abilities Quarterly Scholarship

The JobTest.org Diverse Abilities Scholarship is a quarterly $1,000 scholarship open to all students who live with a disability. The Diverse Abilities Scholarship aims to address these challenges by providing financial support to students with disabilities—anything from a physical disability like muscular dystrophy to a learning disability such as dyslexia. We hope this scholarship will allow them to focus on their studies and seek out a suitable career without financial constraints.

Sarah Porter Beckwith Friendship Fund

The Sarah Porter Beckwith Friendship Fund is a project of Iowa State Chapter, funded by the Iowa P.E.O. Project Fund, Inc.  The purpose of the Sarah Porter Beckwith Friendship Fund shall be for the promotion of the health, education, welfare, maintenance and support of any deserving person or persons living as a family who are residents of the State of Iowa.

Siouxland Community Foundation Scholarships

Each year scholarships are awarded to students from funds established by generous donors who want to make an investment in the future of high school seniors as well as college and even non-traditional students. Scholarships are for school tuition, on-campus room & board, and fees, at accredited colleges, universities, trade schools or community colleges in the United States. Most scholarships are paid over one year, while others, due to their size, are paid over several semesters. Each scholarship has its own eligibility requirement reflecting the personal interests of the donor at the time the scholarship was established.

Spencer Hospital Scholarships

Spencer Hospital works closely with area high schools, community colleges and universities in providing educational opportunities for students interested in healthcare careers. Additionally, three area families – the Shines, the Cornwalls and the Andersons - and the Spencer Hospital Auxiliary have created educational funds to help support students in their health education pursuits.  Application deadline for all scholarships and loan programs are March 31st of each year.

Westmar Endowment Scholarship 

Notwithstanding the following criteria, the Iowa College Foundation Selection Committee will select the best qualified students according to academic merit, commitment to community service, and leadership qualities.

  • First consideration - students who are currently residents of Northwest Iowa and have a family member who attended or was an employee of Westmar (Northwest Iowa is defined as Plymouth, Cherokee, Ida, Lyon, O’Brien, Osceola, Sioux and Woodbury counties)(Family member is defined as self, spouse, sibling, parent, aunt, uncle, grandparent, great-grandparent).  (Employee is defined as faculty, staff or administration).
  • Second consideration - students who are residents of LeMars, Iowa.
  • Third consideration - students who have a family member who attended or was an employee of Westmar.  (Family member is defined as self, spouse, sibling, parent, aunt, uncle, grandparent, great-grandparent).  (Employee is defined as faculty, staff or administration).

Applicant may be a freshman, sophomore, junior or senior beginning in the Fall of 2023, and must plan to attend one of ICF’s member colleges or universities (or a satellite campus of an ICF institution) as a full-time student. Courses must be taken on the campus of the institution.

One Time Scholarships

CAPTRUST Scholarship (Deadline is November 28, 2025) 

The Fall 2025 scholarship window is now open, with the scholarships being awarded for the Spring 2026 semester. We will select five students across the country to receive $2,000 each. At CAPTRUST, we believe it is essential to support our local communities and prepare developing professionals for success. 

In order to be considered for our scholarship, students must submit an essay response for each of the four categories outlined. All students must be actively enrolled pursuing an undergraduate’s degree with a current grade point average of 3.7 or higher (unweighted).

Designli is excited to award a $3,000 scholarship to a female high school, college, or graduate student from the U.S. interested in technology and entrepreneurship. Mental Health Education Scholarship Program (Deadline is November 30, 2025) 

The aim of the scholarship is to bring attention as to why addiction, in various forms, is becoming more prevalent in our society and how can we address the issue of an increasing number of people dealing with addiction. The scholarship is open to any major who can shed light on this issue. OHM Advisors Scholarship (Deadline is November 30, 2025) 

OHM Advisors is committed to fostering talent in critical areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. 

Eligibility is open to high school seniors through college juniors; must be currently enrolled or plan to enroll in a U.S. STEM Program the following academic year with a cumulative average grade of a B (3.0 GPA) at the time of application, is beneficial but not mandatory.

We are proud to announce the return of our scholarship, the Overcoming the Impossible Scholarship. We want to hear how people face the impossible and how others can learn from their experiences. This $1,000 scholarship award will be given to one eligible student.

Barbara Lotze Scholarships for Future Teachers (Deadline is December 1, 2025) 

The AAPT Board of Directors offers scholarships for future high school physics teachers. These scholarships, supported by an endowment funded by Barbara Lotze, are available only to U.S. citizens attending U.S. schools.

Undergraduate students enrolled, or planning to enroll, in physics teacher preparation curricula and high school seniors entering such programs are eligible. Successful applicants receive a stipend of up to $3,000 and a complimentary AAPT Student Membership for one year. The scholarship may be granted to an individual for each of four years.

ISL Education Lending Scholarships (Deadline is December 5, 2025) 

The ISL Education Lending Scholarship awards 45 deposits of $1,000 into ISave 529 accounts for Iowa residents in high school or undergraduate college, or the parents, guardians or others who hold an ISave 529 account for high school or undergraduate college students.

SMART Scholarships (Deadline is December 5, 2025) 

The Science, Mathematics, and Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarship-for-Service Program, funded by the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), is a unique education and workforce development opportunity for aspiring leaders in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The SMART Scholarship Program offers two scholarship opportunities, the SMART Scholarship and the Ronald V. Dellums Memorial SMART Scholarship (Dellums SMART Scholarship).

The SMART Scholarship is for students currently enrolled at a college or university or with previous college credit. Applicants should already possess a college transcript from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university or will have a college transcript by the end of the fall term. The SMART Scholarship is also open to those pursuing or who will be pursuing a graduate degree at a regionally accredited U.S. institution. The Dellums SMART Scholarship is for students with no previous college credit who intend to pursue a bachelor's degree.

Denny's Hungry for Education Scholarship (Deadline is December 8, 2025) 

Denny’s Hungry for Education scholarship program is awarding scholarship money to deserving high school and college students and helping bring communities together.  In 2025, Denny’s HFE scholarship program is partnering with USHLI to award scholarships to deserving high school and college students for their ideas on bringing communities together.

Interstellar Research Group Scholarships (Deadline is December 15, 2025) 

The Interstellar Research Group is proud to present its 2026 Scholarship Program. The program will provide one undergraduate scholarship, one masters scholarship, and one doctoral scholarship for qualifying students.

Applications are open to students enrolled at a university in the United States/or its territories, and must be a citizen of the United States and live in the United States and/or its territories.

Areas included can be STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) related fields, ecology, social sciences, environmental, business, health, law, agriculture, food sciences, computer science, education, construction, and any degrees which can be applied to interstellar space travel missions and to help establish successful civilizations.

The $2,500 scholarships (including the Tim Bolgeo Memorial Scholarship), sponsored by IRG supporters, are merit-based and require applicants to complete an essay with their application forms.

Kelly Law Autism Scholarship (Deadline is December 19, 2025) 

The scholarship will be awarded to a person diagnosed with autism (also known as autism spectrum disorder, or ASD). The scholarship is in the amount of $1,000, and it will be made as a direct payment toward the selected applicant’s tuition at a post-secondary educational institution.

Dr. Juan Andrade Jr. Scholarship (Deadline is December 30, 2025) 

Since 1994 USHLI has awarded over $1.625 million in scholarships and internships to students from disenfranchised groups. Most notably, the Dr. Juan Andrade Jr. Scholarship for young Hispanic Leaders seeks to recognize Hispanic students who share Dr. Andrade’s lifelong commitment to servant leadership.

Future Travel Nurse Scholarship (Deadline is December 31, 2025) 

We’re passionate about quality patient care and committed to helping aspiring nurses pursue higher education and make an impact on the lives of patients. Of course, we’re particularly fond of travel nurses – and proud that our clinicians are some of the best in the industry! That’s why it’s important to us to inspire and assist future nurses like you. 

Whether you’re already attending nursing school or were just accepted, we encourage you to apply for the Aya Healthcare Future Travel Nurse Scholarship. Each year, up to ten (10) $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to nursing students chosen by Aya’s selection committee comprised of seasoned nurse leaders on Aya’s clinical services team.

Healthcare Leaders Scholarship (Deadline is December 31, 2025) 

The Nurse.org $1500 Healthcare Leaders scholarshiis offered to students entering, or currently pursuing, an educational program related to nursing or medicine. Applicants must be US citizens, at least 17 years of age, and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Power of Resilience Scholarship (Deadline is December 31, 2025) 

To be eligible for The Power of Resilience Scholarship, applicants should be in either high school or college (undergraduate or graduate program) and must show good academic standing with a GPA of at least 3.0. The scholarship recipient will have made clear their interest in the power of personal resilience when in crisis.

William B. Ruggles Journalism Scholarship (Deadline is December 31, 2025) 

The William B. Ruggles Journalism Scholarship honors the esteemed Texas journalist who coined the phrase “Right to Work” and contributed greatly to the movement’s advancement.  One $2,000 scholarship is awarded annually to the student who exemplifies the dedication to the Right to Work principles and high journalistic standards of the late Mr. Ruggles.

Kennedy Center VSA Young Soloists Award (Deadline is January 7, 2026) 

Each year, outstanding young musicians with disabilities from around the world are selected to receive the VSA International Young Musicians Award. This program is open to soloists and ensembles of any instrument or genre, including classical, jazz, Hip Hop, rock and more. Eligible young musicians may have visible, physical, and/or sensory conditions, as well as less visible conditions like anxiety, ADHD, chronic illness/pain, PTSD, dyslexia, neurodivergence, and more. Review definitions of disability associated with the Americans with Disabilities Amendments Act.

This program is open to U.S. and international musicians (soloists or ensembles) of any genre or instrument, including voice. Multiple winners will be selected by a panel of music professionals.

Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship (Deadline is January 15, 2026) 

Amazon Future Engineer students can boost their future for themselves and their community with the support of college funding, paid internships, and industry mentors. You can receive a scholarship of up to $40,000 (up to $10,000/year) towards an undergraduate degree in computer science and an offer to complete a summer internship at Amazon!

Sons of Norway Scholarships (Deadline is January 15, 2026) 

The Sons of Norway Foundation awards approximately 25 scholarships to promising students each year and promotes cultural exchange and support education to help students prepare the next generation of workers.

American Council of the Blind Scholarships (Deadline is February 14, 2026) 

The American Council of the Blind’s (ACB) Scholarship Program was established in 1982. The American Council of the Blind (ACB) in partnership with other organizations and individuals, offers educational scholarships ranging from $2,000 to $7,500 for entering freshman, undergraduate and graduate students, and those attending technical college.

This program awards students with scholarships to help with post-secondary education financial needs such as tuition, fees, room and board and other additional costs associated with assistive technology.

To be eligible for a scholarship, applicants need to be legally blind, maintain a 3.0 GPA to be eligible for most scholarships, be a full-time student or a part-time student who works at least 32 hours per week, and be involved in their school and local community. Scholarships are awarded to students who attend post-secondary institutions in the United States.

National Parent Volunteer Association Scholarships (Deadline is February 28, 2026) 

Each year NPVA offers merit-based scholarships for students who are committed to volunteering and making a difference in their communities. Our scholarships are open to students pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees.

Kezian Science Scholarship (Deadline is March 31, 2026) 

The Dr. Arthur A. Kezian DDS Science Scholarship will be awarding $1,200 to help deserving science students. Applicants are required to be high school seniors to graduate students in university, majoring in a science field and pursuing advanced education. Applications will be reviewed by our scholarship committee and will be awarded based on academic merit, community service, and financial need.

SFM Foundation Scholarships (Deadline is March 31, 2026) 

SFM Foundation scholarships may be used toward the costs of attending a two-year or four-year university, college, vocational school or graduate school. To qualify, students must have a parent who was disabled or fatally injured while working for Minnesota or Iowa employers. Scholarships are awarded up to a maximum of $15,000 a year.

Roy J. Carver Trust Scholarship (Deadline is April 1, 2026) 

Scholarships are available to full-time (12 hours or more) students who will be starting their junior year in the fall semester of the 2026-2027 award year. While amounts may vary somewhat, typical awards are $8,800/yr. Scholarships may be renewed for the senior year, but such renewal is not automatic, with students required to re-apply for a second year of support. Eligibility requirements include:

  • Residency. Students applying for scholarships must be a United States citizen and have graduated from an accredited public high school in the state of Iowa or have been a resident of the state of Iowa for at least five consecutive years immediately prior to application.
  • Areas of Study. Students in all fields of study are eligible for an award.
  • Social Factors. Students must present evidence of unusual barriers they have encountered, or are facing, in their pursuit of full-time college attendance.
  • Financial Need. Students must demonstrate financial need on the basis of a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) filed prior to March 1st of the award year.
  • Merit. Students must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.8 on a 4.0 scale. 

Students selected for awards will be those who “fall between the cracks” of other financial aid programs.
