What is an Edible Book?

An Edible Book is a culinary creation inspired by a favorite book or a pun on a famous title. Creations can be anything edible as long as it is book and literary related. All entries are presented; voted on by Briar Cliff students, faculty, & staff; and then eaten & enjoyed!

Rules and Regulations

1. Each entry should be a reflection, representation or interpretation of something book-related; shaped like a book or inspired by the content of a book (i.e. characters, scenes, story-lines, or text).

2. One entry per individual or group. Entries will be entered under the Student category or the Faculty/Staff category.

3. Entries must be created by the person or group who has submitted the entry.

4. All entries will be consumed after the contest. Please mark any allergens on the entry form when submitting your entry.

5. All entries must be original creations and must be 90% edible. Entries will not be refrigerated and thus must not be made out of extremely perishable ingredients. Entries must be submitted on a disposable base.

6. Entries must be dropped off at the library on the day of the event between 7:45 am & 10:00 am.

7. An Entry From needs to be completed with each submission. By entering an Edible Book and completing an entry form, individuals and groups give the Bishop Mueller Library and Briar Cliff University permission to photograph and publish information on the entry and creator.

8. Judging will take place on the day of the event from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. All students, faculty, and staff can vote for their favorite entry in each category.

9. One student winner and one faculty/staff winner will be announced at 2:00 pm on the day of the event. Creators do not need to be present to win.
