DMCS Troubleshooting: Stage

Check to see that the XLR cord is connected from the microphone to the tripod camera and then the HDMI cord from the tripod camera to the Lumens device.  If the tripod camera is not on, there will be no sound. The microphone is connected to the one button recording device through that tripod camera.

Then check to see what the settings are on the Sound Configuration Tab on the Recording monitor.  Make certain all the settings at the bottom of the 5 soundbars are set to HDMI, and then the last setting is on ALL.  If the sound is working, you will see the 3rd soundbar jump with any noise made by the stage microphone.

If you have already recorded your video without that correct sound settings, that sound is lost, you will have to start over and rerecord your video.  (If you choose to record a voice over on the silent copy of the video, you will need to use Adobe Premier Pro software on the DMCS iMac, and then do the sound editing work yourself. Sometimes just rerecording the video is the fastest solution.)

Check the microphone cord to make certain it is fully plugged in on the tripod camera.

Then try turning off the LED LumeCube Lights or angling them away from the microphone.

To access an already recorded video: go to the Home button at the top of the Recording Monitor, then select the Files Manager box. Select from the Folder window the recording by date and time. Double click to view it in the preview box.  Make sure your flash drive is in the one button control box, THEN click on the Copy to USB button. You will see a message saying the recording is being copied and when it’s done you can pull the flash drive from the one button control box. The recording will now be on that flash drive.

Any recordings made in the library studio will be deleted after each semester.

The ceiling camera can be controlled by using the #3 setting on the remote. If the buttons on the remote seem to not work, at the top of the remote are three numbered buttons.  There is a white box around the number 3 button, press it and try the camera buttons again.  Then Check to make sure the Ceiling camera is plugged in to it's HDMI cord and it's power cord.

If that still doesn’t work, Ask the Technology mentor to replace the batteries of the remote. (2 AA batteries)

If that doesn’t work, tell the Technology Mentor.

Check all the cords.  Is the camera plugged in? Is the HDMI cord still connected?  See if the camera is on and facing the direction desired.  Then, check the settings of the four Lumens windows, the lumens windows can be set to different inputs for different layouts.

See if the lens cover is open or closed.  Then, check the settings of the Lumens windows themselves you may have the lumens window set to a different input.  If it still doesn’t work, check the tripod camera settings against the photo, has something been changed?  Also, is the tripod camera on?  Is the battery correctly seated? Is the Tripod battery dead?  There is a second battery that is charged in the Tech Closet, in the bag with the tripod battery recharger.

Is the tripod camera focused on the wrong object, or set too far or close to clearly see an image?  Try moving the Handle Zoom Rocker button on the tripod camera (see photo) and seeing if that brings the image you want into focus.

That usually means one of the major recording settings was just changed.  Please don’t change those.  What the mentor will have to do is reach in behind the Lumens console and turn it off, wait to a count of ten, then turn it back on again.  Let the Lumens system do its full start up and it should be fine, but the process can take almost 5 minutes.

The batteries are almost empty.  Ask a mentor to get a recharged set of iKan batteries from the equipment closet and replace them in the iKan tripod light.  Then leave the batteries to be recharged on Diane’s desk.   If there are multiple people in an afternoon using the studio, ask Alexis to start the recharging process just in case all the batteries get used up. (This can happen when a class is using the studio for a long period of time).

If you are a regular student/faculty/staff of the BCU Campus: You should be able to log in as yourself on the stage side, just like any other computer lab device on campus with the 2 part authentication process and PIN number creation.

If you find you cannot or you are an off campus patron: one of the Technology mentors will have to log on to that campus lab computer for you and then you can access your briar cliff email or cloud storage via the web portal.

However, because of Adobe Creative Cloud Software restrictions on campus, we still need to log in as the DMCStudio on the iMac/Editing side.

Yes. There is an HDMI cord taped to the table that is labeled HDMI 4.  Connect that to your laptop and you will be able to add your PowerPoint presentation or other media to the Lumens layout screen.  In the setup the box you designate HDMI 4 to use will be where your computer image will appear.

(If you need a regular size HDMI adapter to mini HDMI adapter, there is one available for studio use only, hanging on the black file cabinet by Diane’s desk. It is for studio use only.  Mentors if you take this from the file cabinet for assisting a patron, be certain to bring it right back once that patron is done with the studio. Don’t let it walk.)

At this point in time, no.

First: make sure you are actually fully logged in.  That HDMI connection will not work until you are fully logged into the Lab computer.

Then, try restarting the lab computer itself, fully log in.  This will usually fix it and once logged in it will appear on the lumens layout screen.

Then check the hdmi cord from the computer to the back of the Lumens device to make certain it's connected.

Then check the Intranet cord to make certain it is connected.

If it is still not showing up but all the cords are connected correctly try rebooting the Lumens device itself.

Offer to get a library laptop set up on HDMI 4 if the student needs to record asap?

If it still doesn’t work, then get Diane.
